MGM Mirage, the Las Vegas Strip’s largest casino owner, is entering India with non-gaming luxury hotels as the struggling gaming and
hospitality giant turns to emerging markets like India and China to get over the recession blues.
“India is one of the fastest growing regions for both business and leisure travel. In the next few months, we would launch two of our brands — Bellagio and MGM Grand — in the country,” said Rishi Kapoor, vice president (development), India, at MGM Mirage Hospitality, the non-gaming hotel business of the second largest gaming in the world. “We are in advanced stage of talks with developers for the same,” he added.

Four bookies have been booked with charge of betting on the India-Australia one-day international cricket series.
The police arrested the accused from Chandigarh. 50 mobile phones, 3 television sets, and one laptop were recovered from the den. The police conducted a raid in Sector 51 following a sleuth. It has been identified that one of the accused is resident of Panchkula town in Haryana, three others are from Abhor town in Punjab. From preliminary investigation police have found the accused were living in this place for last one year.

The Goa State government has asked for report on senior cops partying in an offshore Goa casino. There has been much controversy after the Director General of Police Bassi made a statement that visiting a casino is like going to a temple or a church.
The Chief Secretary Sanjiv Srivastava has told the reporters that the Home Department will ask the Director General of Police to submit a report on the controversial issue. Srivastava further added that he was out of station that resulted in the delay of the enquiry. “I will call for a report from the police department and we’ll see what they have to say”, Srivastava said.

An offshore Goa casino has defended seven senior police officers, who were locked in a legal dispute with the Goa government, by saying the cops were guests and they were not gambling.
MV Casino Royale management has said that the cops didn’t have to pay the mandatory Rs 2000 entry fee. They were just guests and didn’t gamble in the casino. This was the first formal statement from the casino after a controversy grew up when a police cop bumped in the journalists at the casino.

The superindent of police of Ghaziabad Rural and adjoining Delhi and the SHO of Simbhauli police station were ordered transfers after a man died in police firing.
Police opened firing to round up some men who were gambling. A person named Pervej was killed in that firing.
Soon after the incidence, an unruly mob attacked the local police station and set police vehicles and buses on fire.

The Goa governments has ordered probe into casino party by senior police officials. A controversy grew when four superintendents of police and other senior officials arranges a party in an offshore casino in Goa.
The State Home Minister Ravi Naik said he had ordered the state Director General of Police BS Bassi to start an enquiry on the matter.

Senior cops got clean chit from Goa Police who were in soup after they were found partying in an offshore Goa casino while they were supposed to conduct a raid for illegal activities in that casino. The Goa police said it was not illegal to visit a casino in Goa. Even Home Minister Ravi Naik and Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar had no objection with the “visit”.
The Home Minister said anyone within his private capacity can always go to places which are not illegal.

Four bookies were arrested by Police from Kandivli suburban area for betting during the ODI cricket match between Australia and India.
Following a sleuth, police raided a flat in Prabhu Nivas building and nabbed the four. The accused are identified as Paresh Bhatia, Manish Shah, Sandeep Bhatia, and Ketan Shah. The senior inspector of Kadvili police station said that the four were caught while betting for the cricket match.
Police seized two TV sets, two notebooks, three laptops, and Rs 1300 in cash from the flat. He added that the four were booked under provisions of the Prevention of Gambling Act.

After a controversy of cops found partying on an offshore Goa casino, top Goa police officers have said that there is no difference between visiting a casino and going to a temple.
After being indulged by the Director General of Police B S Bassi, “party-going” senior cops have said that visiting casinos is like going to temples and churches.

Bailancho Saad convener, Sabina Martins, have alleged that police officers have committed a breach of trust by partying at the Goa casinos while they were supposed to conduct surveillance of illegal activities of the casinos as was decided at the meeting of IGP with the NGOs and Goa State Commission for Women.
